Caribbean Islands That Are Open For Travel

By Melissa Cheshire

Has the stress of the past year made you dream of white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and picturesque sunsets under palm trees? Well, travel is back! Or at least it is getting there. With over 75 countries open to travel for American tourists the travel bug is spreading quickly.  However, we are navigating through unprecedented waters and are left to sift through all the different requirements that each destination has put in place. It can be overwhelming and add a bunch of undue stress to planning a vacation. If you have the Caribbean or Mexico on your mind, here is a breakdown of the individual country requirements for entry by vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
For almost every destination on this list, with the exception of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, all travelers 2 and older are required to take a PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours of returning to the US.

Once approved a fee must be paid and an approval certification will be sent to you. The fee is $300 for individuals and $200 for each additional person. An additional Covid-19 test is required upon arrival, and you must quarantine until the results come back. Additionally, a PCR covid-19 test is required within 72 hours of arrival to the airport to return to the US. Starting July 1, 2021, individuals who have been vaccinated at least 21 days prior to travel, will not have to pay the fee or quarantine and unvaccinated travelers will be denied entry.
